Thumbsucking is bad

My daughter Malini wouldn’t stop sucking her thumb even when she was 6 years old. I had to do something about it, and so put together this book for her. It really worked! She stopped in about 2 weeks after she read this book and after she filled in the chart in this book (one of those clever mother tricks!), giving herself points on days she didn’t suck her thumb and negative points on the days she did suck her thumb.

The world I live in

 

I compiled this book for my daughter Malini, in the summer of 2007; she was then 9 years old. It started as a list of places and their capitals, and then I got more and more drawn into it, I had some free time, and it ended with this!

I am no expert in Geography…this is common knowledge that I put together. All images are from the internet. This is purely for personal communication.

Migration of a generation

This is something I wrote during 2002-04. These poems are private expressions of anguish at an unstoppable trend—that of migration to the US, that has affected the structure and values of a large, close-knit  Indian family.
